HUSD Expanded Learning Program

  • Hilmar Hive (Serving Elim & Hilmar Elementary)

Program Overview: Hilmar Hive is our elementary expanded learning program designed to provide a seamless transition from the school day to a safe, enriching afternoon. We focus on balancing academic support with creative play, literacy, and physical activity. Using the Love and Logic© approach, we foster a positive environment where students are encouraged to be Kind, Safe, and Responsible.

    • General Schedule:

      • End of school until 5:15 p.m.

      • TK-K: Literacy learning, read-alouds, and learning through play.

      • Grades 1-5: Snack/supper, reading log time, enrichment rotations, and physical activity.

  • Merquin Elementary (ASSETS Program)
In partnership with the Merced County Office of Education (MCOE), Merquin Elementary offers the ASSETS program. This program is dedicated to "Nurturing, Serving, and Leading" our students through a high-quality after-school experience. Merquin ASSETS provides a structured environment for homework assistance, physical movement, and skill-building enrichment activities that align with district standards.

  • Hilmar Middle School (ASSETS Program)
The HMS ASSETS program serves as a vital bridge between school and home. Designed specifically for the unique needs of middle schoolers, we focus on youth leadership, 21st-century skill development, and academic tutoring.

    Students engage in:

    • STEAM Enrichment: Creative, hands-on science and tech projects.
    • Academic Support: Dedicated tutoring and homework assistance.
    • Fitness & Teamwork: Organized physical activity and collaborative group projects.
