New HAWK System on Lander Activates Tomorrow

CALTRANS has completed the new HAWK system project in front of Hilmar High School and will activate the new system tomorrow, November 15th at noon. Along with this new safety feature, the concrete curbs, sidewalks, and curb ramps were modernized.

We are pleased to have two HAWK systems in place to afford more safety for all HUSD students as well as community members that visit our campuses!

This new system works identically to the existing unit in front of Elim Elementary:
-When the lights flash yellow, be prepared to stop.
-When they are solid red, treat it as a normal red light and stop.
-When they are flashing red, drivers must stop but can proceed if there are no pedestrians in the crosswalk.
